Meet Captain Jay
Jay has been a boat captain all his life. He started sailing with his dad at a young age and will find any excuse to get on the water. When Jay left Corporate America in 2011, he got rid of all his suits, ties, and dress shoes and swore his next job would require surf shorts only. He’s succeeded in his quest, loves boat captaining in Texas and wears surf shorts everyday. He spends most days on Lake Austin, Lake Travis or Lake Marble Falls and he’s never looked back. Next time you’re on a boat with Jay, ask him to tell you his best fun fact about the lake or show you where Mattress Mack lives. His family was fortunate enough to see him in a suit again at his oldest son’s wedding so Thank you Ethan! Fun Facts about Jay…. He was state champion in BMX in 2018 and knows how to make an exploding ninja throwing star out of Starbucks wooden stir sticks. Ask him about it.
Meet Captain Ethan
Ethan is the first born son and like all Jay’s kids, grew up around the water. This included the pool, the river, the lake and the ocean. Ethan learned how to surf at the age of 4 and went on beach surfing trips with his dad almost every summer. He picked up skateboarding quickly and like all the Birchard Boys, he gravitated toward any bike, board or boat. Jay took Ethan on a few “guys only” snow boarding trips and it was on. He loved it. When wake surfing came into his life, he was hooked! He started driving boats, loves all board sports and loves the water. He’s recently fell in love with Lake Travis and Lago Vista and wake surfs every chance he gets. Fun facts about Ethan is he’s a master fisherman, loves to golf and eats macaroni and cheese with an insane amount of pepper on it.
Meet Captain Holt
Holt was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with Jay at work on Lake Travis and started driving boats at the age of 6. If you know Holt, you know he can drive, he’s a mechanical phenom and he loves anything that can float, drive or fly. He started restoring an 1946 H-Model John Deere Tractor with his Grandpa at age 3. He learned how to paint, mount tires and endless knowledge about engines. By 8 years old, he was captaining boats while his dad supervised close by. On his 13th birthday, he got his boater’s license and with the help of his dad, got a Yamaha Jet Ski. He launches the jet ski himself and loves to get out on the water and drive. He’s a vintage old soul and a great human being. The next time you see Holt on a boat chat him up about bikes, boats, trucks, tractors, Family Guy or King of the Hill. He’s an expert in all of it. Fun Facts about Holt is he knows how to pogo stick, is a badass bassist and can fix anything you ask him to.
Meet Tornado Tiffany
Tiffany knows a little about a lot and if she doesn’t know how to do something, she’ll learn. She manages everything behind the scenes like the website, scheduling, operations, payroll, social media, etc. She has to be a Tornado to keep up with Team Birch. A fun fact about Tiffany is she wants to be Jay when she grows up. She spends her free time training to be a boat captain and is looking forward to next summer to maybe charter a few of her own. With Jay on the lake most Saturdays, she’s had to learn how to back up a ski trailer to launch for Holt. That’s not easy but she manages it. This win is one step closer to turning in her high heels and dress suits for swim gear 24/7. Stay tuned….
Meet Hurricane Hayes
Hurricane Hayes is the youngest member of the family and his nickname suits him. If you live in Lakeside at Teserra you’ve probably seen him cannonballing into the pool or ripping around on his dirt bikes. He loves the water, his bikes, his trophies, his fort and his family. In his spare time he loves to ride BMX with his dad or the jet ski with Holt. Hayes is a huge helper and is a volunteer with Keep Lago Vista Beautiful. He keeps asking his mom to take him again. Right now, he’s been helping drive the boat, test the inner tube and cannon ball on the lilly pad to make sure it’s safe. He idolizes his brother Holt and plans to get his boaters license as soon as he turns 13. He’s be a captain in no time. Fun Fact about Hayes is his loves to volunteer, he’s obsessed with baking cakes and eats oreos every night at 8pm.
